Photography Competition

Flash It Photographic Competition

Sponsored by f-stop, Lilianfels, Onsight Photography and AG Outdoor Magazine

As a part of the Australian Climbing Festival 2014, a photographic competition will bring some of the best photographic talent from Australian climbing communities together in one place. The objectives of the competition are to motivate and create interest in mountain and rock climbing photography while portraying a high standard of photography.

There will be three categories in which you can enter a maximum of three images in each. Categories are:

Climbing Action (ACTION)

Photographs of climbing (aid, rock, alpine, etc) and bouldering that have strong visual impact and creative composition.

Climbing Lifestyle (LIFESTYLE)

Looking for entries that portray the climbing life and places and people encountered by climbers. Entries might include travel photography (as long as it’s strongly related to climbing) or documentary-style images, covering any aspect of the climbing life.

Environment and Landscape (NATURE)

Entries identifying with the natural environment seen by mountaineers and climbers. For example, the natural wildlife around crags, natural beauty of the mountains or crags, or environmental statements.

A panel of selected judges determines the winners, and prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each category, as well as an overall Champion photograph. At the conclusion of the competition a set of selected images will be displayed on the Australian Climbing Festival website, at the festival, and in Vertical Life publications.
